World Environment Day – Treecreds, 7 Years of Protecting Forest

World Environment Day, global day for positive environmental action, serves as an appropriate time to highlight Treecred’s important work in protecting threatened forests through carbon funded habitat conservation.  It has been estimated that over 20% of global carbon emissions are directly related to loss of forest cover.

Today Treecreds is pleased to announce that to date it has offset 3441 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions through investment in avoided deforestation projects in Australia.  This represents many hundreds of hectares of preserved forest and has contributed to the critical fight to avert catastrophic climate change.

“Since Treecreds was established in 2007 we have worked with clients locally and nationally to provide a carbon offset service that invests solely in forest projects. Our passion is saving threatened forests through carbon finance.” Treecreds Director Chris Coe

Preservation of our forests is important not just because of the carbon sink they represent but because of their role in preserving forest ecosystem and biodiversity. It is important to note that Treecreds do not trade carbon credits; its mission is to retire credits, removing these units from circulation and thus driving demand for the generation of new offsets.

We have been delighted with the response to our carbon management programs and initiatives and continued support from some of Australia’s best music festivals and their patrons as well as significant events held in Victoria.

RACV’s Manager of Environmental programs, Simon Mikedis said “Since 2008, Treecreds have played a significant role in helping RACV to measure, reduce and offset the environmental footprint associated with its flagship school event, the RACV Energy Breakthrough…. RACV is most impressed with Treecreds seamless engagement with all stakeholders…..Treecreds have continued to strive for and facilitate continuous improvement in reducing RACV Energy Breakthrough’s environmental footprint….. and have been highly innovative and entertaining in their approach to educating attendees”.

Treecreds look forward to extending its reach into other market sectors.  We are proud of our work in assisting businesses to set clear sustainability goals and promoting  forest conservation.
